Performance Issue: Cmail not accepting messages from googlemail.com (gmail.com not affected)

Brief Description:
There are reports that Cornell Cmail accounts are rejecting messages from googlemail.com (not gmail.com). These rejections appear to be happening due to changes Google has made in their system settings.
Current Status:
Issue updated under new alert. Cornell engineers are investigating.

Performance Issue: Possible Issue with WebEx and Firefox

Brief Description:
There have been reports of attempts to start or join a meeting in Firefox and being prompted to download and run an installer for Chrome. The process can't complete successfully, blocking use of Firefox. This issue is not affecting other browsers.
Current Status:
This issue appears to be happening only very rarely. Anyone who encounters it and wants to try to continue using Firefox for WebEx meetings should use the WebEx removal tool to take all WebEx components off their computer: https://help.webex.com/docs/DOC-2672 WebEx should then reinstall the components the next time the computer is used to start or join a meeting. Since support is being ended for WebEx in June, a better long-term approach is to switch to the new supported web conference service, Zoom: https://it.cornell.edu/zoom

Performance Issue: Chrome and Services with SHA1 Certificates

Brief Description:
An update for Chrome browsers is causing some IT@Cornell service websites using SHA1 security certificates to be blocked because that type of certificate isn't trusted any longer by Chrome. Internet Explorer for Windows and Safari for Mac will work.
Current Status:
Service owners are in the process of updating the certificates associated with their service websites. A message will also be sent to remind them to do so.

Performance Issue: Blackboard/PeopleSoft Add-Drop Synchronization

Brief Description:
Students added to or removed from classes since Friday are not currently being reflected in Blackboard courses. Blackboard engineers believe they have fixed the problem and if so, Blackboard course rosters should be updated and correct by this evening.
Current Status:
The Blackboard/PeopleSoft add-drop synchronization issue has been resolved. Blackboard course rosters are now up to date.

Scammers have sent fraudulent emails claiming to be from Provost Michael Kotlikoff to many members of the Cornell community. These emails are fake and their attachment should not be opened or interacted with in any way. Please delete the message.
Current Status:
This fraudulent message has been added to the Phish Bowl, a catalog of malicious emails seen at the university. https://it.cornell.edu/phish-bowl . If you ever have any question about the validity of any email claiming to be from Cornell, you can check this page and its counterpart, the Verified Communications page, a listing of emails being sent out from legitimate Cornell sources (login required). https://it.cornell.edu/verified-cornell-communications .

Performance Issue: Ithaca Power Outage

A power outage in the Ithaca area affected the Cornell campus and some IT services located on campus. Power has been restored, but some services are still being brought back up, for example, digital signage.
Current Status:
As of 8:25am, all service affected back the power outage had been restored.

One of the 2 primary "nodes" in Rhodes Hall which hosts data for SFS had a failure, and all shares are being hosted off of its' partner node. There may be a slight performance degradation in the meantime.
Current Status:
We have the failed node back online and we are running normally again. We are still gathering diag data to determine the failure.

Security Alert: WebEx Windows Browser Vulnerability

A vulnerability has been detected in the extension used by WebEx to run in all Windows browsers except Edge. Update WebEx extensions or switch to Zoom and uninstall WebEx.
Current Status:
WebEx has provided updated components for Firefox and Internet Explorer that close the vulnerability. Anyone continuing to use WebEx should immediately apply these updates (see below) and the previously announced update for Chrome. Since support is being ended for WebEx in June, you may instead want to switch to the new supported web conference service, Zoom, and use the WebEx uninstall tool to clear all WebEx components from your computer and eliminate associated vulnerabilities. Performance Issue: Two-Step Login and LastPass Chrome Plugin

An incompatibility is preventing Two-Step Login from working properly in Chrome if LastPass is present and activated. LastPass is working on a fix.
Current Status:
LastPass has provided a new version of their Chrome plugin, which fixes the issue. There have been reports of Chrome autoupdating without requiring any action on the part of the user.
