CIT has confirmed the cause of the January 11 issue regarding slow login times for services that use Cornell authentication / authorization.\n\nA component of the authorization service, called the Permit Bridge, was severely overloaded. Three factors contributed to the load: the way CornellAD handles LDAP calls; dependencies and conflicts that exist for the name "cornell.edu"; and planned maintenance for the cornell.edu website that was completed earlier that morning.\n\nWe resolved the issue with a short-term fix that changed how LDAP calls are handled by the Permit Bridge. We are researching the best approach for the permanent solution. | CIT has confirmed the cause of the January 11 issue regarding slow login times for services that use Cornell authentication / authorization.\n\nA component of the authorization service, called the Permit Bridge, was severely overloaded.
