Scheduled Service Change: Zoom for Outlook Add-in Move to New Authentication Protocol

Event:
2025-01-31 11:00:00
Expected Duration:
2025-01-31 12:00:00
Status:
Closed
Brief Description:
Starting February 1, 2025, Microsoft's will begin deprecating Outlook legacy tokens and introduce a new authentication protocol, Nested App Authentication (NAA). This change will impact the Zoom for Outlook Add-in's ability to access Outlook calendar data
User Impact:
Zoom has reported to Cornell IT staff that these changes should not affect most customers. Some may be prompted to re-authenticate after the authentication method switches to NAA, though this occurs periodically during regular use anyhow. Users with an outdated version of the add-in may experience a temporary disruption until the most recent version of the add-in is automatically rolled out.

Impact on those still using the older Zoom Plug-in for Outlook is unknown, but these users are strongly encouraged to begin using the Zoom for Outlook add-in instead.
Services Affected:
Email and Calendar
Web and Video Conferencing
Subsites Affected:
Outlook for Mac
Outlook for Windows

To ensure continued functionality of the Zoom for Outlook add-in, on Friday, January 31, 2025, between 11:00am and 12:00pm, CIT will transition the add-in's authentication to NAA. Rollout of the latest version of the add-in to Cornell customers who do not already have it has already begun.
