Full Description:
On January 17 and 18, 2023, Cornell AWS accounts using Direct Connect will be migrated to a new network architecture. This new architecture simplifies Direct Connect configuration and management, and improves its bandwidth and flexibility.

The scheduled migration consists of two steps:

Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 9am: Route Tables in Direct Connect-connected AWS VPCs will be switched to begin using the new infrastructure. At that point, Direct Connect traffic outbound from VPCs will use the new architecture, which consists of a Transit Gateway and a Direct Connect Gateway. Direct Connect traffic inbound to the VPCs will continue to use the older infrastructure.

Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 9am: Older Direct Connect infrastructure attached to customer VPCs will be deactivated. This will automatically result in changes to route advertisements for the VPCs, leading to Direct Connect traffic inbound to the VPCs to use the new infrastructure.

Some Cornell AWS accounts (or VPCs in accounts) will be migrated prior to or after these dates through specific arrangements with the AWS account owners.
