Brief Description:
On June 29, 2022 the CIT Cloud Team will deploy support for Regional Restriction to Cornell AWS accounts. Once this change is implemented, an AWS account owner/operator can then choose to enable Regional Restriction for their AWS account.
User Impact:
The changes described here will be made to allow account owners to enable Regional Restriction for their account, if they choose. These changes by themselves do not enable Regional Restriction.

Full Description:
On June 29, 2022 the CIT Cloud Team will deploy support for Regional Restriction to Cornell AWS accounts. Once this change is implemented, an AWS account owner/operator can then choose to enable Regional Restriction for their AWS account, meaning that no AWS activity is allowed in any AWS region, except for the US regions where all AWS services are available.
Enabling the Regional Restriction feature reduces the financial and security impact of an AWS account compromise and prevents unintentional use of non-US regions.
There will be no outages of any AWS services during this update. Customers do not need to take any action.
