On Sunday, January 24, 2021, between 11:00am and 1:00pm, Cornell IT staff will make several important changes to default settings in Zoom, affecting live transcriptions of meetings, hosts' ability to change the layout of cloud recordings, and the management of high-quality video in meetings.
Configuration changes will be made to default Zoom settings as follows:
- Group HD feature will be unlocked for all users (previously locked).
- Live Transcription feature (already unlocked) will be switched to "on" by default (previously "off" by default).
- Cloud Recording configuration settings will be unlocked for all users (with access to cloud recordings; no change for users restricted to local recording). These settings were previously unlocked by request, but will now be available to all cloud recording users.
