Brief Description:
High levels of activity and congestion on outside telephone networks (land-line and cellular) is causing some calls to not complete, instead resulting in a fast busy signal. This issue is occurring outside Cornell’s telephone network.
User Impact:
Congestion on telephone networks outside Cornell may cause calls to Cornell extensions that are connected to outside cell or landline phones through a service like My Extension Everywhere/EC500 to not go through after Cornell networks hand them off.
Workaround:
There is no workaround for this issue

Full Description:
High levels of activity and congestion on outside telephone networks (land-line and cellular) is causing some calls to not complete, instead resulting in a fast busy signal. This issue is occurring outside Cornell’s telephone network and is caused by and affecting overall traffic on the outside phone networks. It does mean that when someone dials a Cornell phone number that is connected to a cell or home phone through My Extension Everywhere/EC500, it may not connect due to the outside congestion. The campus telephone system itself is letting all calls through at this time and has ample capacity. Cornell voice engineers are continuing to monitor the campus phone system.
