The Dropbox upgrade to Secure File Transfer scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2019, 6:00-8:00am, encountered unexpected issues and will be postponed to a later date while IT staff investigate.
For the time being, the application site, https://sft.cornell.edu, will direct users to the previous Dropbox application. This means users should expect that:
- the application will still be branded as Dropbox, not Secure File Transfer
- the maximum file size for uploads is 2 GB
IT staff will provide a new date for the Dropbox upgrade once the technical issues have been resolved. If you encounter issues using Dropbox, please contact itservicedesk@cornell.edu.

| On Friday, August 2, 2019, between 6:00am and 8:00am, Cornell Dropbox will be updated. Improvements include an increase in the file size limit per upload from 2GM to 5GB, a move of the application to cloud hosting service Media3, and a change of the service name from "Cornell Dropbox" to "Cornell Secure File Transfer." The name change is intended to reduce confusion with the commercial service also named "Dropbox." Along with the name change, the web service’s URL will become https://sft.cornell.edu. Users going to the old service URL will be redirected to the new location for a transition period of at least a year. During the cut-over, the service may briefly be unavailable. Any transfers in progress during the cut-over will need to be restarted by the user, but no data will be lost.
