Full Description:
On Sunday, June 2, 2019, CIT Identity Management is implementing new security procedures for password changes and resets that will affect Cornell employee and student NetID users with Two-Step Login accounts.

Users who have set up Two-Step Login for their NetIDs will need to use the service to authenticate when they:

· reset a password using the “Forgot Your Password” option on the Manage Your NetID website,
· change their password using the “Change Your Password” option on the Manage Your NetID website,
· restore access to a locked or password-scrambled account by answering previously set Knowledge Based Authentication questions (this will only affect alumni who activated Two-Step Login while they were students).

CIT is adding this requirement to further increase the security of NetID credentials and reduce the possibility of unauthorized individuals accessing and compromising secure university accounts. Most university employees and students should already be familiar with using Two-Step Login to access secure resources such as Workday or Student Essentials.

On the day of the change, the “NetID Activation,” “Change Password,” and “Forgot Password” applications on the Manage Your NetID website will be unavailable for a few seconds while the application server picks up the new versions.
