Brief Description:
There was an interruption in delivery of some alumni automatically forwarded email and some mail from EGAs. Delivery to Cornell G Suite and Office 365 was not affected. The issue was specific to mail forwarded out of Cornell’s email services.
User Impact:
Delivery of forwarded email to some outside alumni mail accounts was interrupted. Some mail coming from Exchange Group Accounts was also affected.
Workaround:
There is no workaround for this issue
Current Status:
Update: This issue also prevented some email from Exchange Group Accounts from being delivered to alumni personal email accounts or other accounts outside Cornell. An email has been sent to the administrators of affected EGAs letting them know which messages were not delivered, and the intended recipients who did not get them.

During preparations for an eventual alumni email routing change, there was an interruption in delivery of some alumni forwarded email and mail from some Exchange Group Accounts. The problem occurred from around 7am Sunday, March 31 until around 11am Tuesday, April 2. Email delivery to Cornell G Suite and Office 365 was not affected. The issue was specific to email automatically forwarded out of Cornell’s email services to outside personal accounts.

The issue was specific to email automatically forwarded out of Cornell’s email services to outside personal accounts. Messages are being sent to alumni with affected accounts with a list of emails that were not forwarded to their personal accounts. Alumni who accept delivery in their Cornell Google account can sign into http://gsuite.cornell.edu to review the messages. For alumni who don’t accept delivery in a Cornell account, the list is intended to let them review the messages and where appropriate contact senders to ask they be re-sent. 2019-04-04 18:52:05

Analysis of the problem indicates the issue occurred from the morning of Sunday, March 31, 2019 until the morning of Monday, April 1, and for a few hours in the morning of Tuesday, April 2. Any alumni who feel their mail might have been affected (for example, if they were expecting mail sent to their Cornell account and forwarded to their outside personal email account during one of those times and didn't receive it) and who have mail delivered to their Cornell Google account can sign in at http://gsuite.cornell.edu to check. Since delivery to Cornell Google accounts wasn't affected, any email sent during that period will be available there.
