Brief Description:
CIT has received reports that some Thunderbird and other email app configurations are experiencing certificate warnings for IMAP connections. This issue can be fixed by using the outlook.office365.com IMAP server.
User Impact:
Certificate warnings are appearing for some Thunderbird and other email application configurations that have been set to use IMAP servers other than outlook.office365.com.
Workaround:
This issue can be fixed by using the outlook.office365.com IMAP server. For details, see https://it.cornell.edu/facstaff-email/choose-which-emailcalendar-app-use-office-365#section-5 , under "Other Ways to Manage Your Cornell Email: For IMAP."
Current Status:
The issue has also affected other setups beyond Thunderbird, such as some individuals accessing EGAs using their smartphones. It could potentially affect other IMAP or POP configurations. Changing the server setting to outlook.office365.com will fix the warnings.
