The directory service uses DNS round robin, so it's possible that some users will not see an outage, even while one of the servers is being upgraded. At most, a user would see an outage up to one hour.

We will be upgrading the test SunOne enterprise directory service (LDAP) during September. The test infrastructure is comprised of three servers; each will be upgraded at a separate time, resulting in a service outage of approximately one hour for each server while it's being upgraded.
