Late last week, a partial block was triggered for email from Cornell to Web.com as a result of too many emails being sent to invalid addresses at domains hosted by Web.com. This affected some email from Cornell to Web.com-hosted domains from 5/15 to 5/20. Cornell engineers have gotten the block removed and remind people doing large mailings to check to make sure they delete out-of-date addresses from future mailings. \n\nSince only one of Cornell's email servers was blocked, most mail to domains hosted at Web.com went through, and if someone retried a failed message, there was a significant chance it was delivered. A notification of non-delivery, or bounce message, was sent to anyone whose message did not go through.
