There have been reports that Cornell email is being blocked by AOL. Cornell engineers are working on the issue.

As blocks have been removed, spam sent from different compromised accounts has reinitiated them. Cornell engineers are monitoring the situation closely, shutting down the flow of spam from compromised accounts as soon as they are detected, and are working with outside email services to remove new blocks as quickly as possible.\n\nIn order to avoid email account compromise by spammers that can ultimately result in blocks on Cornell email by outside services, as well as many other negative outcomes, members of the Cornell community with a NetID should review:\nhttp://www.it.cornell.edu/security/how.cfm?cat=5&tip=88 As blocks have been removed, spam sent from different compromised accounts has reinitiated them. This issue was resolved by Saturday morning, 3/28/15. Depending on how often they check their email, some individuals who tried send a message to AOL while the block was in place may still be discovering that it was not delivered. Due to new compromises over the weekend and this morning, AOL has reimposed the block on Cornell email. Cornell engineers are working on the issue.\n\nNote: In order to preserve the open flow of email between the university and outside email services, and to safeguard the information of members of the Cornell community, it’s vital to prevent spammers and others from gaining access to Cornell accounts.
