A different email delivery method is about to be put in place which should ensure the Crime Alert system does not send duplicate messages or fail to deliver a message to any individuals' Cornell email account. Until this method is implemented, the current system is being monitored to verify it will perform properly when needed.\n\nFor the long term, a team is working on setting up the Crime Alert email process to use the same system as CornellALERT, at which point, the delivery method being implemented now will function as a backup so that messages can still be sent in the event of issues with the primary system. Representatives of Cornell University Police, Environmental Health and Safety, and Cornell Information Technologies are working together to address the email delivery issues for this past weekend's Crime Alerts. The group believes it has identified the causes and is implementing immediate fixes and planning a path to a more stable, resilient means of delivery. More details about the long-term solution will be provided as soon as they are closer to finalization.
