If a cornell.edu address sends a message to a non-cornell.edu address that isn't valid or isn't accepting mail, the sender isn't receiving an automated return message indicating the problem.

The outgoing servers were adjusted in how they handle routing to @cornell.edu addresses. These addresses are once again receiving email non-delivery reports if they send messages to non-Cornell addresses that aren't valid or aren't accepting mail. A change to how the outgoing servers handle routing to @cornell.edu email addresses is being tested and readied for implementation. It is expected that after this change, users will resume receiving email non-delivery reports for email going to non-Cornell addresses.
