Description Current Status Date Time
Today, Microsoft began promoting Office Mobile for Office 365 for iPhone. This app offers cloud-based access to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint via SkyDrive for Office 365 users. \n\nCIT cautions the Cornell community to hold off attempting to use Office Mobile with their Cornell Office 365 account. Trying to do so will result in an error message. We did not receive advance notice about Office Mobile, so at this time, we cannot yet advise the community on its use or provide support. Using the app with a non-Cornell account for university business would place data outside of the contractual protections Cornell has in place with Microsoft, and so is not recommended.\n\nThe Office 365 services needed to support Office Mobile have not yet been enabled for Cornell's Office 365. We have only enabled the Exchange Online service so far. We intend to extend Office 365 to include these additional services in the future; however, rollout needs to be planned, scheduled, and managed the same as any new product rollout, with the appropriate documentation, communication, and support plan in place.\n\nThank you for your patience. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Today, Microsoft began promoting Office Mobile for Office 365 for iPhone.
