We speculate that the elist server (Lyris LM) will be caught up\nwith the elist email backlog by about 13:00 (1pm).\nMessages are currently being delayed less than one hour.\n\nThe backlog seems to have been triggered by a flood of spam\nthat slipped in under the Pure Message anti-spam system\nstarting about 08:00 and manually stopped about 08:36\nMaximum message delays seem to have been about 2.5 hours.\n We speculate that the elist server (Lyris LM) will be caught up\nwith the elist email backlog by about 13:00 (1pm).\nMessages are currently being delayed less than one hour.\n\nThe backlog seems to have been triggered by a flood of spam\nthat slipped in under the Pure Message anti-spam system\nstarting about 08:00 and manually stopped about 08:36\nMaximum message delays seem to have been about 2.5 hours.\n 2012-05-03 04:00:00
The number of reported cases has increased during the week, and CIT staff are attempting to take some short term measures to provide some relief. Some major changes are scheduled for Saturday morning (May 5), which we believe will address the major cause of the bottleneck.
