Please be advised that due to a misconfiguration in JIRA, all users in JIRA were added as watchers to a specific project and therefore have been receiving irrelevant notifications. This unfortunately has led to a build up of over 27,000 invalid emails. Currently we have stopped all email services in and out of JIRA to alleviate this mass email issue.\n\nWe are now looking into how to clear out these inappropriately queued up emails so that when we turn the service back on they will not be sent.\n\nWe understand that many OTHER projects in JIRA are CORRECTLY configured and rely on email for auto-issue creation and apologize to those who are indirectly affected by this, while the email service is turned off. Any emails sent to your JIRA mailboxes will be saved and processed once we turn the email service back on.\n\nOur sincerest apologies,\nThe JIRA Team

The JIRA Email Service has been restored to normal operation. The unsent email notifications have been deleted and purged, and the JIRA system was restarted at 12:33 PM. Outbound email from Jira was turned on at 12:45 PM. We verified that no erroneous messages were sent. The JIRA system appears to be operating normally again.
