Brief Description:
Current Status:

Services Affected:
Full Description:
Although fake antivirus and other malware attacks have primarily been an issue for PCs in the past, this is no longer the case. MAC Defender is the first in a series of significant attacks, which security experts anticipate will prey on Mac users. It should be noted that Mac computers are not only no longer immune, they are now recognized as a prime target; any sense of security Mac users once enjoyed should now be disregarded. Mac users who have not already installed Symantec AntiVirus, free for all faculty, staff, and student owned computers, should do so now (see http://www2.cit.cornell.edu/security/symantec/mac.html).
