Scheduled Service Change: Blocking domains associated with WebinarTV.us at Zoom account level

Event:
2026-02-19 17:00:00
Expected Duration:
2026-02-19 18:30:00
Status:
Closed
Brief Description:
At this time, we will blocking several domains from being able to join meetings and webinars hosted on the Cornell Zoom instance. These domains are associated with unwanted capture and recording services which have been joining Cornell Zoom events.
User Impact:
The list of indicated domains will be entered as blocked domains (for the purpose of attendees being able to join meetings or webinars) for all Cornell Zoom events. For the initial implementation, these domains will need to be locked so that the blocks populate to individuals. This will overwrite any existing custom domain blocks users have made. On request, we can add users to a group to remove the lock and restore previous user-added blocks. For such exceptions, we will manually add the WebinarTV domains to the user settings.
Services Affected:
Web and Video Conferencing
Subsites Affected:
Zoom
Full Description:
At this time, we will blocking several domains from being able to join meetings and webinars hosted on the Cornell Zoom instance. These domains are associated with unwanted capture and recording services which have been joining Cornell Zoom events, recording the event, and then re-hosting these recordings as a commercial offering (without consent from the event host or the university). Individuals who have already added custom domain blocks will have their prior settings overridden by this change, and these settings will be locked. Users who need to make additional domain blocks, have prior blocks restored, or have these options returned to an unlocked state can contact the IT Service Desk for assistance being moved to a group to restore these options.
