Brief Description:
CIT is still pursuing fixes and testing work-arounds for the issue preventing Microsoft 365 Desktop Applications from being installed on new devices. Community members using these Office products can access the web versions and previously installed apps.

There is no workaround for this issue
Current Status:
Microsoft 365 Desktop Apps cannot be installed on new devices. Web versions are functioning as expected.

Update: CIT is still pursuing fixes and testing work-arounds for the issue preventing Microsoft 365 Desktop Applications from being installed on new devices. Community members using these Office products can access the web versions and previously installed Desktop Applications.
On Thursday morning, January 29, 2026, Cornell community members who use Microsoft 365 Desktop Applications were unable to install M365 applications on new devices. Devices with previously installed applications were not impacted. The root cause was been identified and CIT began exploring potential fixes.
