Full Description:
RESOLVED: Following Microsoft’s resolved Azure Front Door and content delivery network (CDN) portal issues late yesterday, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the services that relied on these platforms began returning as well. If managing an Azure-dependent service, consider confirming that service’s current status.

As of Thursday, October 30, 2025, Cornell.edu websites hosted on Media3 and using the Azure plus Web Application Firewall (WAF) are now functioning as expected.

The Microsoft Azure and related Media3 web site incident is unrelated to a previously scheduled Cornell SharePoint site owner email that was distributed earlier today. See that alert for details. Sharepoint site owner email: https://itservicealerts.hosting.cornell.edu/view/7636
-----

Previously, Microsoft had updated their Azure status page and anticipated full mitigation by 7:20pm ET. At Cornell, impacted Microsoft tools continued to recover. Other services that relied on Azure or the Microsoft content delivery network (CDN) portals also began their return to service. Affected cornell.edu websites were available as services and security verifications are restored. The timing of this process varied dependent on location and sites.

Earlier in the day, Microsoft Azure had updated its status page, citing the deployment of their most recent good configuration with an expected completion of that deployment by the top of the hour, approximately 3pm ET. As the deployment progresses, customers should begin seeing initial signs of recovery.

On Wednesday, October 29, issues linked to Microsoft content delivery network (CDN) portals were impacting Cornell.edu services including Media3 web hosting, Next Gen Dynamic Forms, and multiple Microsoft tools.

Reports about the web hosting service Media3 issue included affected sites like:
