RESOLVED: The configuration settings successfully restored connectivity and stabilized the Azure Virtual Desktop environment. This issue is considered resolved. CIT will work with the vendor and internal teams to attempt to avoid or mitigate similar issues in the future.
Previously, on Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2025, CIT's Cloud Architecture and Apps on Demand team made Azure Virtual Desktop hardware configuration changes that allowed for general connectivity to resume for students and faculty.
Earlier that day, Cornell IT investigated a burst of student notifications regarding Apps on Demand connectivity problems and determined an Azure capacity issue. A support case with the vendor was been opened and CIT will continued monitoring the issue. The early reports were from students unable to access virtual desktop for their Python and Business Analysis course.
