Brief Description:
Individuals trying to launch a Microsoft Teams video meeting may get an error message from Windows Defender, "Windows Defender has blocked some features of this app." Users who don't have admin privileges should select Cancel then reinitiate the call.
User Impact:
Individuals trying to launch a Microsoft Teams video meeting may get an error message from Windows Defender, "Windows Defender has blocked some features of this app." They can select Cancel, reinitiate the call, and the video meeting will work fine.
Workaround:
Users with administrative rights to their computer can select Allow Access and enter their credentials. Users who don't have administrative rights should click Cancel and relaunch the meeting.

There are reports of individuals trying to launch a Microsoft Teams video meeting and getting an error message from Windows Defender, "Windows Defender has blocked some features of this app."

Clicking Allow Access from the options Defender presents triggers a request for administrative credentials. Users who don't have administrative privileges should select Cancel, then initiate the call again. They will not get the Defender warning the second time. All features will still be available in the meeting. Cornell staff are working to resolve this issue.
